How to Master your Camera
Coming Out of AUTO workshop
This one-day workshop is for anyone with a DSLR or a mirrorless camera (sometimes called a Compact System Camera or CSC) who wants to take the next step in their photography journey and take full control of their camera.
Shooting in AUTO can produce excellent images, but because the camera is making all the decisions for you, it sometimes gets it wrong. Sometimes photos end up too dark, too bright, too blurred or even just too grainy.
Coming out of AUTO means you are no longer a slave to the camera. You can override its settings and make your own creative decisions.
Take that big step from being simply a camera owner, to becoming a 'photographer'.
Is this you?
You recently bought a camera and the controls look daunting
You've had a camera for a while and just haven't got round to fully exploring its potential
You have become increasingly disappointed with your photos and you're looking for a solution
You want to buy a unique gift for someone who owns a camera and would really benefit from this course
Coming Out of Auto is for those who feel stuck in a rut and want to release their creative potential. It's about experimenting with Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual... and it's about understanding what your camera is capable of.
You'll learn how to cope with unusual lighting, how to override your camera's settings to give you perfectly exposed images and how to use ISO to give you extra help when light gets low and shutter speeds too slow.
Taking control of your camera means you'll learn how to create those lovely soft-focus backgrounds when photographing people and how to freeze fast moving action - as well as how to take stunning images of moving water so that it looks dreamy.
The workshop is led by industry professional Kevin Ahronson, one of the UK's best photography teachers. Bringing over 40 years of experience behind the camera and sharing his knowledge with you, Kevin is known for his sense of humour. So certainly be prepared to learn a lot, but also expect a few smiles along the way.
"Kevin has extensive knowledge & experience in the photography field. This coupled with his approachable manner and friendly personality, makes for a great teacher! Anyone with a passion for photography, but haven’t yet taken the time to learn how to capture amazing images, would be crazy not to sign up as one of his students! Learning should still be fun ...and there’s rarely a dull moment in Kevin’s company!"
The workshop is run from Stockton House in Fleet (Hampshire), a wonderful building in beautiful grounds. Our training room (below) opens onto the terrace and we have access to the walled gardens beyond.
Throughout the day teas and coffee will be available and we'll break for lunch around midday.
